Important Things to Remember When Purchasing a Printer

Printer only last 3 to 5 years, so choose a model that best fits your budget. Ask yourself, Do I want a MFP which is a multi-function printer FAX, Copy, SCAN ALL-IN-ONE.? How many copies? Is the printer WI-FI? Can I copy front and back (Duplex Copies)? Do I only need Mono or Color?

I like HP Laserjet Pro MFP M428FDW. The high yld is 10,000 pages with a lot of feature. It is mono only.

Inkjet is a liquid that will clog over time and dries out. A new cartridge will have a warranty date which must be used up before it expires. You may have a full cartridge but if the date is expired the cartridge will not print

Laser printers need maintenance every 100,000 pages.

Maintenance Kits can be purchased. The maintenance kit doesn't have everything it in. However, if your unit requires a drum this may need to be replaced every 4 to 5 toner use. All units vary some brother color laser are good for only 18,000 pages. Over time, if you are experiencing paper jams the fuser maybe worn or damaged. The price of these repairs may cost more than a newer model.

Mono- Is a black only printer.

Color- These unit have four toners. Please check the price of each color. If one color goes out the units stop printing. Also, decide if you can afford replacing if each color has separate drums.

Most paper trays allow customers to adjust for legal size and letter. However, the scanner may only copy letter size only.

Please review all the rating, specifications, page yld. The are a lot of videos online to help you decide. Please ask your staff how much printing is currently being used on a monthly cycle. Printer models can display this information under reports. Ask yourself do I need a machine that has internal memory, USB port, mobile phone printing, multiple users and software compatibility. Most laserjet printers are good for 100K which is 3-5 years. Please review the cost of installing the toners or drums. Some models require both while others require only a toner. If your business is in a high humidity area then toner cartridges will cause issues with the toner powder not spreading evenly. A laser printer is better than any Officejet, Deskjet, or Inkjet model available. The most expensive laserjet printer doesn't always mean it's the best fit.
