Disable Firmware

All original cartridges must be installed first then disable the printer. Once the firmware is disabled then you can install any brand of cartridges. 

If you tried to use compatibles or refills in the past, the printer will display error messages like-Damaged, Incompatible, Replace, Missing, and Not Recognized Cartridge.

Step 1

Go to the touchscreen and pull down the tab in the middle of the screen

Click on the Gear Symbol

Scroll until you see Printer Maintenance

Scroll until you see Update the Printer

Update the Printer

Printer Update Options (OFF)

Select-Do Not Check

It is strongly recommended that you allow the printer to periodically check for updates. 

Do you want to turn on Printer Updates.

Select-NO

Then Click Home Key

The firmware is now disabled.

Error Messages

Printer power is on unplug from the back of the printer then unplug wall outlet. Please wait 60 seconds then plug wall out then the printer cable back into the printer and now turn the printer on.

Disable Firmware from Cell Pone (HP SMART APP)

Click on the Printer Model on the top of the Cell Phone Screen

Make sure you click on the printer model if you have several printers
